ABOUT THIS COURSE
‘Large corporation admits data breach – millions of pieces of personal information compromised!’ Seems we can’t
go a week without another news story on data breaches, right? Why is this? Well, personal data is worth money, and criminals understand the value of obtaining it. Even when it’s leaked online, personal data can do huge damage to an organisation.
Data breaches, by such obviously illegal acts such as hacking, or simply misplacing files so they end up in the wrong hands, can have serious consequences. Both to organisations, and to the individuals they can affect. The good thing is that you can do something about them.
OUTLINE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Identify different types of data breaches
Describe what to do when data breach happens
Minimise the risk of data breach
WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?
Integrity and confidentiality of data is one of the cornerstones of the UK data protection regulation, GDPR. Basically, if you fail to adequately look after the personal data you process, you can expect some serious consequences. But it’s not just Data Protection Officers that need to pay attention. If we handle data in our roles, from customer names to more sensitive data, we all have a responsibility to keep it safe.
