Cookie Policy and Security
Cookie Policy
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies are used on the BusinessBalls website, why we use them, and how you can control them.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the site owners. Some cookies are essential for the site to function; others are used for advertising or analytics.
Cookies we use
BusinessBalls is a static website. We do not use cookies for user accounts, login sessions, or tracking your activity across our site. The cookies present on our site come from the following sources:
Google AdSense (advertising)
We display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your browsing history across the internet. These cookies allow Google and its advertising partners to show you relevant advertisements on our site and on other sites you visit.
Key Google advertising cookies include:
- __gads / __gpi — Used by Google to serve and measure the effectiveness of advertising.
- NID / CONSENT — Used by Google to store user preferences and personalise ads.
- IDE / DSID — Used by DoubleClick (Google) for ad targeting and retargeting across sites.
For full details, see How Google uses cookies in advertising.
Google Consent Management
For visitors in the UK and European Economic Area (EEA), a consent banner is displayed before any advertising cookies are set. This uses the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.2) to record your consent preferences. If you decline personalised advertising, Google will only serve non-personalised ads.
- FCCDCF / __lc_cst — Used to store your consent preferences under the TCF framework.
Local storage (not cookies)
Our site also uses your browser’s local storage for the following purposes. Local storage data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Quiz progress — If you take a quiz on our site, your scores and progress are saved locally so you can see your best scores when you return.
- Search preferences — The Pagefind search component may store a small amount of data locally to improve your search experience.
How to manage cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. The following links explain how to manage cookies in common browsers:
You can also opt out of Google’s personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ad Settings or the NAI opt-out page.
Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of advertisements on our site but will not affect your ability to read our content.
