    Course overview

    Everyone’s entitled to participate fully in their workplace, including disabled people. But unfortunately, many people with disabilities aren’t treated fairly at work or supported to fulfil their roles. They often face discrimination and unconscious bias, undermining their opportunities and their safety.

    Disability-inclusive workplaces benefit everyone, by allowing valuable employees to contribute fully and creating a safe, fair environment. Disability impacts each individual differently. But understanding how to define it and how it can impact people at work will help you to contribute to overcoming the barriers that disabled people face.

    Learning objectives:
    

    • Define disability and the importance of clear accessibility policies and practices in the workplace to maintain a dignified working environment
    • Explain common ways disability can impact a person in the workplace and how these can be prevented or removed to create a more inclusive working environment
    • Suggest key elements of improvement to the organisation’s policies to continually improve the working environment for everyone

And we all have a role to play in overcoming it. That’s why everyone can benefit from understanding more about disability in the workplace.
